Performing Belief brings together Indian modern, contemporary, and folk artists to explore ritual as both lived practice and evolving metaphor. Across generations, artists engage with ritual not only through religious or ceremonial imagery, but also through gestures of repetition, memory, labour, devotion, and transformation. The exhibition traces how ritual can become a way of understanding identity, belonging, and continuity within changing social and cultural realities.

Marking a new direction for Kalakaar Art Salon, it expands the salon’s commitment to dialogue across artistic traditions, bringing contemporary practices into conversation with modern and folk art. Through these encounters, Performing Belief reveals how different histories, materials, and ways of making remain connected, offering new ways of thinking about change to belief, inheritance, and ritual in the present.
