Intimate Gestures

Intimate Gestures: Indian Masters On Paper is an invitation into the quiet moment before an idea becomes a monument. But paper is not only where an idea begins. For many artists it is also where an idea chooses to stay, resolved and complete in its own right. Across ink and wash and pencil the exhibition gathers works on paper as sites of experimentation and immediacy and refinement and direct expression, whether first thought or final form.

A line turns forceful or falls lyrical. Color whispers instead of declaring. A surface holds memory, myth, and desire. To sit with these pages is to sit with intimacy itself, the closest an artist ever comes to thinking out loud.
