Senaka Senanayake (b. 1951) was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and is known for his vibrant depictions of tropical landscapes and wildlife. Recognised early as a prodigious talent, he held his first exhibition as a teenager and later studied in London.

His work centres on the natural world, particularly the lush ecosystems of Sri Lanka, rendered through dense compositions and a vivid, expressive use of colour. Often incorporating birds, animals, and foliage, his paintings reflect both a celebration of biodiversity and an awareness of environmental fragility.

Senanayake is regarded as a leading figure in contemporary Sri Lankan art, known for bringing ecological themes into a visually rich and immersive painterly language.
