Allah Bux
Allah Bux (1895-1978) was born in Wazirabad in undivided Punjab (now in Pakistan) and trained in Lahore, where he was introduced to painting, calligraphy, and the discipline of miniature traditions under the guidance of Meeran Buksh Naqash. His early years were shaped by practical work, painting signboards and theatrical backdrops, which informed the compositional depth and atmosphere of his later works.
A period in Bombay brought recognition through mythological subjects and institutional awards, followed by years of royal patronage, including time in Patiala. He eventually returned to Lahore, where his practice settled into lyrical depictions of rural life, marked by a sensitivity to light, landscape, and everyday experience.
